LTA plans to upgrade MRT stations

LTA plans to upgrade MRT stations
Printer-friendly version

We thank Mrs Manju Venugopal ("Resolve issues at existing MRT stations first"; Jan 30) for her feedback on commuter traffic at several MRT stations. In fact, we already have plans to study and upgrade these stations to serve commuters better.

For example, commuters at Clementi, Commonwealth and Queenstown MRT stations can look forward to greater accessibility and comfort when the upgrading works are completed in the second half of 2015.

As part of the improvement works, new station entrances equipped with fare gates and ticketing machines will be constructed at these three MRT stations. Each station will also have an additional pedestrian bridge linking it to the pavements on both sides of the road.

These enhancements will help to alleviate congestion on the existing link bridges of the three stations, especially during the morning and evening peak periods.

We will continue to monitor the commuter flow in existing MRT stations to determine what type of changes can be made to improve the commuter experience.
