The kit to hit the North
SINGAPORE - This will be the longest ride of his life.
Former lecturer Terence Tay, 39, left the country in the early hours of Feb 25 on a two-wheel adventure.
Mr Tay quit his job to follow in the footsteps of the motorcycle adventurers that inspired him.
His solo three-month journey, dubbed "Anywhere but South", will be an approximately 15,000km round trip taking in Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia and some highly remote stretches of road and cultures in the Indo-China region.
He says: "The aim is to experience and document some of the beauty within our South-east Asian cultures - the similarities as well as differences - and hopefully interest more people to venture out and discover them for themselves."
Mr Tay quickly learnt that preparing for the trip would not be as simple as packing his bags and hitting the road on his BMW F800GS Adventure.
He has to prepare for every situation, from being able to take snapshots to upload onto his journey's Facebook page, to more extreme eventualities.
Here's a peek into Mr Tay's luggage and the essentials needed on this once-in-a-lifetime journey.
